چکیده
Growing demands stimulate the intensification of production and create need for practices that are both economically viable environmentally sustainable. As European Union banned use antibiotics in 2003, several alternative treatments have been suggested, including probiotics. The first probiotic study aquaculture was published 1986, since then probiotics considered as a beneficial tool this industry. Today current evidence suggests administration certain strains might be able to enhance growth rate, improve welfare different fish species by modulating gut microbiota, physiological functions, such metabolism, digestion, immunity, stress tolerance, intestinal histology, disease resistance. Lactic Acid Bacteria: Probiotic Applications
Lactic acid bacteria (LAB) is a heterotrophic Gram-positive bacteria which under goes lactic acid fermentations and leads to production of lactic acid as an end product. LAB includes Lactobacillus, Leuconostoc, Pediococcus, Lactococcus and Streptococcus which are grouped together in the family lactobacillaceae. LAB shows numerous antimicrobial activities due to production of antibacterial and a...

Lactic acid bacteria (LAB) play a critical role in food production and health maintenance. There is an increasing interest in these species to reveal the many possible health benefits associated with them. The actions of LAB are species and strain specific, and depend on the amount of bacteria available in the gastrointestinal tract. Consumers are very concerned of chemical preservatives and pr...

Lactic acid bacteria (LAB) and their probio-active cellular substances exert many beneficial effects in the gastrointestinal tract. LAB prevent adherence, establishment, and replication of several enteric mucosal pathogens through several antimicrobial mechanisms. LAB also release various enzymes into the intestinal lumen and exert potential synergistic effects on digestion and alleviate sympto...

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the probiotic Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis BB-12 with regard to its resistance to simulated gastrointestinal stress. The tested strain was able to survive both in the presence of 0.3% bile salts for 5h and in the acidified MRS broth with pH 2.0 for 2h, the rate of viability being by 78% and 76% respectively. The presence of pepsin with a view ...
متن کاملProbiotic lactic acid bacteria – the fledgling cuckoos of the gut?
It is tempting to look at bacteria from our human egocentric point of view and label them as either 'good' or 'bad'. However, a microbial society has its own system of government - 'microcracy' - and its own rules of play. Lactic acid bacteria are often referred to as representatives of the good ones, and there is little doubt that those belonging to the normal intestinal flora are beneficial f...
